Skyweaver Discovery Prism Review Part 1

This guide is outdated. It still contains valuable information but the meta has changed since then. So, the game results, scores, and some of the information are not valid right now.

Hello weavers, this is Zygote. For those of you who don’t know me, I am the founder of the Skyweaver Leagues and I have been playing the game since 11/2019. We are very close to soft launch and I wanted to create a Skyweaver discovery prism review to give you some ideas about how prisms are performing right now. This way you can find which prisms suit you better, grind more tickets before the soft launch and also have a nice head start when soft launch begins.

Let’s talk about our methodology before starting the guide. I give scores to the prisms on 5 different topics. Early, mid, late game dominance, access to card draw and access to lifegain. I played 5 games with each prism and gave them points for each game and took their averages. For example if a prism took (5,5,4,3,4) for early game dominance then it’s early game score will be (4.2). Of Course I evaluate each prism according to their play style. I do not evaluate Lotus on how much damage it dealt on early game, instead how it was able to control the early game and if it was able to provide a successful passage from early to mid game or was it able to set the ground on mid game so I can finish my opponent on late game. Finally I combine early, mid and late game scores, take average and get a dominance score, which determines how good the prism is on the current meta. Also I add card draw and lifegain scores to them, get their average and form a general score, which shows their overall performance but the determining factor is the dominance score. 5 games is certainly not enough but I do play a lot of discovery these days and we are very close to the soft launch so I wanted to provide a guide for you. In the future I will extend the number of games and categories. I wish you a pleasant reading.

ADA (mono strength)

Skyweaver Discovery Prism Review image 1When we look at the history of the Skyweaver, Ada is probably considered the most consistent and powerful hero in the Discovery. This is due to Ada’s ability to dominate the board with strong or buffed units. After testing, I’ve seen that Ada’s units are still very strong but it looks like she lacks consistency. I managed to get only 2 wins in 5 games with ada. When it comes to early game dominance she is a pure beast with the average score of 4.6, but when it comes to the mid game she slowly starts to lose her dominance (3.6 pts) and the late game is surprisingly her weak spot (3.2 pts). I mean, you’d expect strength to dominate the late game right? But during the process, it loses card advantage and life advantage. When you play your chunky finisher, it just gets removed by enemy spells or the board they created late game; then suddenly you find yourself on the losing side of the game.

SAMYA (mono agility)

Skyweaver Discovery Prism Review image 2Samya is also another hero who has always performed decently  in Discovery. With the recent nerfs to agility, you may think that agility lost its steam, but that’s totally wrong. Samya is an absolute sweeper. I managed to win all of my games with her and probably the right term to explain her is OP. When you are playing Samya you don’t feel that it’s gonna be hard or how am gonna pass this struggle. Cards in agility simply give you the tools you need to solve your problems, and with the start of the mid game, you put your opponent into a position where they always need to answer your threats. Surprisingly, the early game is not the strongest aspect of the agility, but as soon as mid game starts, it’s unstoppable. 4 of the games I played ended before the late game and one game ended at the start of the late game. Units like Vlad, Epic Eagle, Zoomie and Riptide are among the best options in mid game and Maw Worm can be a real lifesaver when needed.

FOX (Strenght/Agility)

Skyweaver Discovery Prism Review image 3If you are looking for an aggro prism combination which ends the game before turn 8 and has a strong early and mid game, then look no further. My experience with Fox was wonderful. He manages to dominate the board, answer threats, ends the game before turn 8 and saves you time. With 4 victories in 5 games, Fox proved to be very successful. The combination of strength and agility is really threatening, units like Void Knight, Fan of Knives, Brimstone and Slash can help you clear the way while dealing damage and rest is up to your midrange units which can take advantage of the open board. One of the downsides of using Fox is its card draw. Since you did not craft the deck by yourself, you rely on random options which can be very limited. Units like Fox Familiar and Champ can help you thin your deck and give you more options in hand; but don’t forget that your opponent will prioritize removing these units so they can be more effective when there are other units which your opponent also wants to target. Also when using Fox, you can’t expect much life gain, you’re either gonna win quickly or die quickly.

LOTUS (mono wisdom)

Skyweaver Discovery Prism Review image 4Lotus is a very risky prism choice. It’s not powerful, you can’t expect to dominate the game with buffed units and a strong board. But this doesn’t mean you can’t win. I won 3 games with Lotus. If you are a control player you may like this prism because it always goes to the late game and when you win, it’s because you managed to control the opponent. His early game is very good (4.7pts), even in the games I lost, I was able to keep the pace in the early game. Do not mistake this with winning the early game, most of the time you manage to keep your hp close to the opponent’s hp. So you nicely answer their threats and manage to pass to the mid game without losing control and that’s what you want to do with Lotus. Its mid game is also decent(3.6pts), the only problem is fast decks. They can be faster than your mid game answers and you can lose control of the game. If the game goes to the above 12 mana you are probably going to win that game. Your life gain is not that strong actually but you have access to a very powerful tool with Lotus. Card draw. The ability to constantly draw cards gives you lots of options while your opponent runs out of the cards and with that you win the game.

TITUS (Strenght/Wisdom)

Skyweaver Discovery Prism Review image 5Titus is a very interesting hero to play in Discovery. With the combination of strength and wisdom you expect it to destroy everything, because units in these two prisms have the highest stats available compared to the other prisms. However the reality is a bit different. When you play against aggro, Titus offers you a great mid game domination and creates perfect passage from mid game to the late game, and you easily finish your opponents. On the other hand against midrange/control prisms it sits on the defensive side and tries to answer threats. Especially when a midrange hero manages to take the board control with mid range units, Titus can not find a way to deal with them. One reason is that it really lacks drawing power, so most of the time you rely on the cards you have in hand. Secondly, it’s hard to create a board dominance before turn 8-9. So if your opponent can play their buffed units onto the board before you, you can easily lose the control of the game.
