Skyweaver Set Review – Starter Decks,Part 3: Wisdom
Welcome to Part 3 of the series. In this part, we are reviewing the starter deck cards of the Wisdom Prism. In this part some of the low-cost cards will have shorter reviews due to their simplicity and different from other parts a card with no effect (Earth Wisp) will be included because it is played a lot. You can win a Silver card by reading and commenting on this post. Details are at the end of the page. I wish you a pleasant reading. Community ratings will be added in the future after gathering more data.
1-) Dark Wisp
A simple 1-cost unit, thanks to its wither it can allow your hero and other units to take less damage in early turns, but there’s not much to expect from Dark Wisp, especially in later turns. Probably it would be more useful if it had guard.
Lotus
General
2-) Water Wisp
A one-cost addition for ramping strategies which become more playable after the release of Lotus’s ability. Even though it also grants max mana to your opponent, it’s still an early-game tool that allows your hero to increase his max mana. Other than its ability it has a weak body which makes it less useful against the units of the opponent unlike Turtor
Lotus
General
3-) Cyclone
In think in terms of power level the card is very weak, especially during the turns you need it most it only deals 2 damage, and the +1 damage that it has is not so useful after you reach 5 mana, there are other cards that can be more beneficial.
Lotus
General
4-) Air Wisp
Serves well as a target draw card in decks that utilize wisp cards. Other than drawing a wisp card it has a weak body. I think playing the card is a bit risky because to draw a wisp unit you spend 2 mana, and this may lead to losing early game control that you may require. Depending on the deck you play and how Wisps cards may evolve in the future, Air Wisp may see more use.
Lotus

5-) Earth Wisp
Normally, I do not include cards without any effects in this series, however, Earth Wisp managed to find itself a spot in this list because right now it is a widely used card in the game, especially in decks that aim to play ramp style. As a 0-5 unit it can’t deal any damage but its large health allows it to act as a wall and prevent a couple of enemy attacks and if it can survive its attachment Take Root allows your hero to gain one max mana. Against aggressive decks and well-statted units Earth Wisp may not survive and your 2 mana and potential 3-cost play can be lost. Like other wisp units, it’s a risky card to play.
Lotus

6-) Fire Wisp
Another target draw card with a not-so-strong body, this time drawing a scion unit. Depending on your deck and the scion units you play the card can be useful.
Lotus
General
7-) Metal Wisp
Perhaps the most threatening one of the 2-cost Wisp units, its power will increase every time you gain max mana and can hold and deal some damage to enemy units and hero. Still, not a very strong card but a defensive option to play.
Lotus

8) Mind Wisp
Probably on its own Mind Wisp is not so preferable to use, both its stats and effect are not so strong. Mind Wisps can become much more useful when they are summoned with the effect of Mind Scion. Other than that I don’t think they will see much use.
Lotus

9-) Surging Power
Before Patch 120 the card was pretty effective especially in Lotus decks, granting lots of health to an ally, requiring just 2 mana. After the patch, it is still not a bad card but it’s definitely not as good as before and it’s much harder to gain a good value out of it if you are using the card outside of Lotus decks. Being able to suddenly increase your hero’s health can allow you to survive longer or help an ally unit get much stronger on the board, especially if the enemy player has fewer options in hand to remove that unit. Overall, not a bad choice for Lotus decks that utilizes max mana.
Lotus

10-) Overheat
For its cost, its base damage is pretty low and to be able to get its benefits you gotta reach 5 max mana first and still, there are cards that can deal the same damage without the need of having 5 max mana. If you can reach 15-20 max mana, the damage that it deals becomes much more efficient for its cost, but I doubt that you will need this card at 20 mana or you should wait that long to use it.
Lotus
General
11-) Blazing Blessing
A similar concept to Overheat, and I have a similar opinion about Blazing Blessing. The benefit that it grants is minimal at base cost and at the later stages of the game, still, the given stat boost is not a lot. Of course, there can be times when the boost can help your units but I think if you are using the card outside of Lotus, it won’t be beneficial most of the time.
Lotus
General
12-) Glean
Thanks to the ability and playstyle of Lotus, you usually don’t find yourself lacking cards in hand and when you need more Glean can come in handy. Since it’s not a target draw card and only draws one card before 5 max mana its effectiveness is not so high. After reaching 5 max mana it turns into a standard draw 2 card. If you are playing late turns such as 10,15 mana and lacking cards in hand, this time it can become more useful, granting you options to play. Overall not a bad card, but also not as good as a target draw card.
Lotus
General
13-) Earth Scion
Similar to Surging Power, Earth Scion also received a nerf with Patch 120 and lost its healing ability. Its main benefit still exists making it a useful card, especially for Lotus players. Being able to increase your max mana while playing unit is much more effective than playing a spell like Take Root. However, stats wise the card is very weak, making it not the best to deal with enemy units. I think the card will still see some use but not as much as before because the healing ability was also very beneficial to strengthen your board.
Lotus
General
14-) Water Scion
If left unanswered, Water Scion can be a problematic unit, drawing a card for your opponent each turn. Probably one of the best side of the Water Scion is, it can also function outside of Lotus too because it doesn’t have a 5 max mana condition like some other Wisdom cards. Stats-wise, it is not the strongest card, but as long as it stays on board it will keep granting benefits. It becomes beneficial if you are ahead of your opponent and you play it, if you are trying to play Water Scion while your opponent is pushing you, unfortunately, it won’t grant any benefit.

15) Gift of Sky
A useful card that allows you to draw three units with specific targets, allowing you to shape your next turns. Regardless of Lotus, the card can be useful but slightly more useful in Lotus, since most of the wisps and scions benefit from the max mana style of play. To be able to play the card you gotta spend 4 mana which is not a low cost for a card that doesn’t create any instant impact, however, if you can manage to boost your max mana early it can become easier to use Gift of Sky.
Lotus
General
16-) Dark Scion
The unit simply doesn’t grant any benefit in early turns. Besides its condition, it doesn’t fit the playstyle of Wisdom. At 5 mana it’s a 6-6 unit with no additional benefits. In later turns it gets a little more useful but outside of Lotus, it’s very hard to benefit from it. I haven’t seen it being used beside the starter deck and probably won’t see it a lot also in the future.
Lotus
General
17-) Fire Scion
Before 10 mana it’s the worse version of Vlad and after 10 does it become better? I don’t think so, because it can only target units. Dealing damage on the play, especially 3 damage is a beneficial effect, it can help clear enemy units and secure the board, yet it is not the most impactful card that can change the game. Outside of Lotus, it can still be used but it is more effective in Lotus decks because the amount of damage that it deals increases in later turns.
Lotus
General
18-) Mind Scion
Mind Scion is a unit that can create an impact on the board when played and also it can create some impact for the course of the game, mostly if it is played in Lotus max mana decks. It summons a Mind Wisp on play and more Wisps depending on your max mana. A single Mind Wisp on its own is not so effective but when they are summoned as a group, they can act like a wall holding some damage and also their effect can heal your hero allowing it to survive and play answers on the next turns. Overall, it is an effective card thanks to its ability.
Lotus
General
19-) Air Scion
Before reaching 10 mana, its attack power is very low and even after 10 mana it is not impressive or effective. The card is mostly used as a removal tool because of its dash keyword and spending 6 mana for removing one target in most cases is not so useful. Currently, it is a bad card both in and outside of Lotus decks.
Lotus
General
20-) Metal Scion
Perhaps one of the most used cards of the set comes with an interesting and useful ability. As soon as the turn is over it will give your units +1+1 or possibly more depending on what is your max mana. Just on its own, the effect is useful, and in addition to that it can be combined with other units that benefit from gaining power. Especially after 10 mana, the effect can make your board very strong and your units can survive most of the removal spells. Overall, a very useful card both in and outside of Lotus decks.
Lotus
General
21-) Sky United
So far it is a card that I haven’t seen being used a lot. Probably wisps being low-cost units and being also not so effective during the late game has an effect on this, also not all of the Scions are very impactful. As a result, the current state of both Wisps and Scions makes this card not so useful.
Lotus
General
22-) Mana Geyser
When we look in terms of the amount of damage that it deals, for 7-cost it is relatively low, there are many other spells that deal the same amount of damage for lower costs and some of them are water spells like Geyser. In addition to this Geyser not just deals this damage to enemy units but also to your own units making it not the best choice as a removal option. The benefit that comes with the card is gaining +1 mana which can allow you to reach higher max mana easier. Currently, there are many available tools for increasing your max mana, and better removal options depending on the prism(s) that you play, making Geyser a questionable choice in my opinion. Still, it slightly fills a gap that Wisdom needs in terms of board clear options and can be used in decks that utilize a ramp style of play.
Lotus
General
23-) Light Scion
One of the decent cards of the set that feels a gap among 7-cost Wisdom units. So far Libra was able to give your hero life back but wasn’t able to hold the game or grant further benefits and Meng’Long was only played in elemental decks. Scion can be used as a defensive tool to hold the game and in addition to that, it can push damage and keep increasing your hero’s health if it survives. If you have a good amount of mana and play Light Scion, it can benefit from its max mana condition and can be summoned as a more powerful unit. Overall, a useful card that works well with the ramp style of play and can see some use outside of Lotus too.
Lotus

24-) Infine Infinities
Before the latest patches, it used to be a problematic card, its effect was scaling up quickly with its previous card draw ability and now it is revised. The revision makes it less effective compared to its previous state. It currently only grants one max mana on the first use and has a high cost, which will probably reduce the amount of use it sees, yet it can still be a choice for players who wish to play high mana games. Overall, the card is worse compared to its previous state and not so useful outside of Lotus.
Lotus

25-) Nihilos, the Hollow
Another card that received a nerf recently, on its release it was able to give your hero +2 health and now it gives +1. Its healing effect was easily stacking up granting you both an effective finisher and healing tool at the same time. Now it still can serve as a finisher and keep healing your hero but not as much as before. Niholos is definitely a nice addition to Wisdom because before, Wisdom didn’t have any 9 or 10 cost finishers and now Niholos feels that gap pretty nicely. It might not be the best outside of Lotus ramp decks, but I think soon it will start seeing some use outside of Lotus as well.

Hi, welcome to the community, thanks for your comment, DM me on Discord for the Silvers 🙂
Good writeup with fortunate timing since putting out the article right before all the cards got hammered would have been unfortunate. RIP Lotus but Nihilos is still great.
Thank you, you are right, posting this before the patch would be a disaster 😀 . As you said Nihilos is still doing pretty well. You can DM your wallet address on Discord for Silvers 🙂
Hello!
My favorite card from the Wisdom started deck is Nihilos, the Hollow. All other wisdom high cost units usually give you delayed value, and in a lot of cases game ends before you can fully utilize it. But not with Nihilos – even if you drop him as soon as turn 10, you still get a lot: huge pile of stats, small board clear that bypasses armor and barrier, card draw and some healing. Frequently playing Nihilos results in turning game around, that’s why I love him as big payback for mana ramping.
I certainly agree with that point, I really enjoy getting benefits out of a card as soon as I play it, especially if it is a finisher. Because of that Nihilos feels amazing to play even after the nerf. Thanks for your comment, you can DM me on Discord for Silvers 🙂
Metal Scion is a cool card in Titus, I even have a deck built around it. I even discovered that Glizzies give +1/+1 multiple times which trigger STR’s “when this unit gain power” effects multiple times with Glizzies in grave. Sadly it requires a lot of setup and Glizzbot hardly stays alive long enough for it to be crazy.
I think the same, Metal Scion suits Titus well, and it is nice to see new cards being played outside of Lotus. Using Glizzies seems like a pretty interesting idea with strength cards, I haven’t seen Glizzbot being used for a while, so it’s cool to bring old cards back, please share the deck if you don’t mind. Also, you can DM me on Discord for the Silvers 🙂
Overheat is the best card. Very powerful AoE board clear spell in late game.
Yes, as the turns pass it gets stronger, I wish it was able to be a little better during the early turns too. Thanks for your comment, you can DM me on Discord for Silvers 🙂
